Arborfield School District # 4864

In October 1930 the Gospel Hall was rented and school opened with Miss Jean McInnis as teacher and nearly fifty pupils, grades one to ten. By January 1931 a new two-room school, named Treasure # 4864 was built in Arborfield on Block 5. It was directly west of the Gospel Hall. In 1933 the Gospel Hall was again rented in order to open a third room. The name of the school was changed to Arborfield School District #4864 in 1934. In February, 1937, the old bank building was rented for a fourth room. In 1946 two rooms were added on to the original two-room building. However, on February 4, 1947, fire completely destroyed the four-room school.

Various buildings in town were rented until, in 1948, a spacious, well-equipped six-room school was built.

In 1952 Arborfield School become part of the Tisdale School Unit # 53. In 1958 four more rooms were added to the south end of the school. In 1965 a wing was added to the south and west of the school, which contained four more classrooms, a library, a laboratory, a staff room, principal’s office and washrooms. In about 1983 the gymnasium was added.
