A petition for the organization of a school district was filed on the 7th day of April, 1919. Assessable acres in the proposed district were 4900. The total value of assessable property was $32,000.00. The committee signing the request were: Nap Belec, Gladstone McKague, and Paul Antaya. Paul Antaya was also the secretary.

In a letter from the Department of Education dated Mar. 15, 1920, to Jack Pelletier, senior trustee, "We have the honor to inform you that an order has been issued erecting the Frankland School District No. 4309."

The one room school was built on the southwest corner of the SE 30-42-13 W2. It opened in 1921 with 12 pupils in attendance. In addition to regular classroom use, the school was used by the community for weddings, funerals, and church services. Attendance at the school went from a high in 1927-28 of 30 pupils to a low in 1957-58 of only six students. Most years attendance ranged in the high teens to the mid-twenties. The school closed in 1958 and the children were bussed to McKague.
