The school was located on SE 15-48-10 W2nd. The school and the creek were named in honour of A.B. Connell, a land surveyor. School opened on March 7, 1927, with Eva Herlen teaching in a log shack as a temporary school. The school was built in 1928.

The school closed in 1965 and the children were bussed to Arborfield #4864. The community bought the school and use it for community functions such as card parties, showers, dances, and hosting meals. Toboggan rallies, ball games and picnics are held on the grounds. Recently the windows have been removed and new siding has been put on the school building. The school and its grounds are still a part of rural life in the district.

Connell Creek grounds and school were the location for the eight rural school reunion June 29, 30, July 1, 2000. (Connell Creek, Jordan River, Megan, Berkley, Pembina, Moosedale, Grassy Run, and Addington school districts) School pictures were taken. A great time was had by all!
