The Tisdale School Unit No. 53 was formed on October 15, 1952 (under authority of section 3 of The Larger School Units Act and in accordance with Order in Council No. 2063/52) to be comprised of seven school districts: Bjorkdale, Sylvania/McKague, Tisdale, Mistatim, Arborfield, Zenon Park and Ridgedale. Each of these seven areas consisted of many small, original School Districts that were closed as the rural population declined and roads were improved. The Town of Tisdale was added as the eighth district on July 1, 1953. In 1978 the name was changed to Tisdale School Division No. 53. Tisdale School Division dissolved on December 31, 2005 and became part of the amalgamated North East School Division No. 200.
