The organizational meeting for Loring School District No. 4513 was held on February 5, 1923 at the home of John M. Thair. Mrs. Gus Yeo, John M. Thair, and A.W. Mawby were elected as trustees. The name for the school district was suggested by the Yeo family. March 12, 1923 the school board requested a plan for the school from the Department of Public Works. According to the “Petition for Organization of School District” the school was to be located “in the centre of the east boundry of section 16-41-15 W2. By late November of 1923 construction was nearly completed and the board advertised for a teacher.

School opened in January of 1924 with thirteen students enrolled. The first teacher, Velda Boxall, was hired at a salary of $1000 per year. By 1934 the teachers annual salary had fallen to $400. By the late 1950s the salary had risen to $3150 per year. Some years the district found it difficult to hire a qualified teacher. (teacherage right)

Over the years the school was used as a community centre. Christmas concerts, community dances, and Loring United Church services were held in the school. In 1959 the school was closed but the school building and grounds were retained as a community centre.
